My name is Brigette McKamey. I grew up believing that only bad things would come from conflict and, for the most part, only bad things did come from conflict. This belief controlled my life and how I responded to conflict. I would yell and fight and damage relationships with others. Day after day, month after month, I continued to fall deeper into the inescapable grips of conflict. It wasn’t until I started graduate school that I realized that my understanding of conflict was totally wrong.

Conflict is not bad. How we choose to respond to conflict can lead to either negative or positive outcomes. Conflict shouldn’t control us- we should control it!

I have learned how to better handle conflict after years of studying and practicing effective conflict resolution practices. Conflict is complex and there are many factors that contribute to it. However, there are simple practices and techniques that people can adopt immediately to see more positive conflict results.

I am passionate about helping employees gain important skills necessary to effectively resolve conflict. The more skills employees acquire the more likely they will be able to lessen the amount of conflict in their daily work relations. This can lessen the amount of stress in a person’s life. It can also save organizations time and money.

I have a master’s degree in Communication Studies from the University of Montana and a Conflict Resolution Graduate Certificate from the University of Utah. I also teach a conflict management course at Ensign College. I offer fun and engaging conflict resolution seminars. In my seminars, employees learn and practice valuable skills such a listening, reframing, brainstorming, and communicating. Further, employees learn the value of empathy and understanding others who are different from them. Please contact me today to schedule a seminar. You won’t regret it!
